About

Cardiff Newport Sands is a volunteer led Group that works to promote Sands’ vision in our area.

Cardiff & Newport Sands group was started by three bereaved parents in 2006, and are still running the group now.

During these 19 years we have supported many bereaved families through local support groups. We have also funded maternity bereavement rooms in both UHW, the Royal Gwent hospital, and are currently funding a room at The Grange Hospital, along with supplying Sands bereavement booklet and other support materials. We also part funded the 'Dear Mum' garden in Western Cemetery in Cardiff and the small garden found outside ante natal clinic at the Royal Gwent Hospital. We have done so much more in the 19 years, far too much to put on here!

We hold three annual memorial services throughout the year, the first is on the last Sunday in June at Thornhill Crematorium, Cardiff. The next one, also at Thornhill Crematorium, is our Wave of Light service on the 15th of October. The last one is our Lights of Love service on the first Friday in December at St.John the Evangelist Church, Canton, Cardiff.

We are a focal point for fundraising, with many wonderful and dedicated fundraisers working so hard to support Sands locally and nationally. Help us by giving generously – your donation can make a positive difference and help us to reduce the numbers of babies dying in the UK today.
